What Will My Child Be Learning?

At Kellie’s Academy for Kids, we want your child to have the best preschool education possible. Generally speaking, children enrolled in our preschool curriculum learn art, music, science, language arts, and more. We’ll even potty train your child if that’s necessary when they begin their enrollment. We offer a few specific early education programs we’re particularly proud of:

Kindergarten Prep Program: Our experienced educators will provide your child with a kindergarten head start program. We work with local schools to ensure your child feels prepared to start school. We work on pre-reading, pre-writing and pre-math using cognitive tools designed to build these concepts. Our preschool program is geared toward children of all abilities.

Summer Camp Program: In addition to our after-school care programs, we offer affordable summer camps for preschool-age and school-age children. Your child will participate in arts and crafts, sports, field trips, and special events. Early education doesn’t have to end when summer starts.

How Do You Discipline Children?

At Kellie’s Academy for Kids, we utilize a variety of discipline techniques and methods that teach your child appropriate behavior while recognizing that young children are learning how to cope with their emotional and social development.  Setting age-appropriate boundaries, using redirection techniques and occasionally “time out or breathing space” if needed.  Our staff are trained professionals who use these tools to provide and safe and loving environment for all.

We schedule a time for parents of children enrolled in our Pre-Kindergarten Readiness program. Parents with children of other ages can call to schedule a conference if you feel there is a need.

How do you stay in communication with parents?

We communicate through newsletters and daily contact with teachers. If you have any questions or concerns, please talk to your child’s teacher and/or please feel free to contact the office.

How do you handle other adults on the facility grounds?

Any visitor must be with a staff member if they are touring. All visitors must check-in at the office for security purposes. Children are signed in and out daily; identification is necessary to take a child from the center.

What can I do to make the preschool experience a good one for my child?

  1. It’s best if your child can attend at least three days per week. This allows him/her to keep the routines familiar and comfortable.
  2. It is also very important that your child arrives on time every scheduled day. It’s very disruptive for the group and can be uncomfortable for your child to arrive at any other time.
  3. Encourage them to talk about their day, it lets them know you’re interested in what they do and can be a bonding tool between you and your child. Take a moment to read the lesson plan so you can initiate a conversation. Be sure your child understands that you think preschool is important and wonderful. What you think and believe is very important to your child.

What Security Precautions Do You Take?

Your child’s safety is of the highest importance to the staff at Kellie’s Academy for Kids. To ensure the children’s security, all visitors must check in with the front office. Visitors must be with a staff member at all times. At the end of the day, anyone picking up a child must present the proper identification.

Should I Send My Child with Food?

Children enrolled in our preschool program need to bring a lunch box/bag clearly marked with their name.  We do not have refrigerator space available so if you would like to send something cold or hot, please bring an insulation container. The lunch you send should include servings of fruit/vegetables, bread/grain, and protein. No candy or soda, please. Kellie’s Academy for Kids will provide a drink and a nutritious snack in the morning and afternoon. Let us know about your child’s food allergies beforehand, and our staff will take every precaution to accommodate them.

How Do You Keep Parents Involved?

We love involved parents at Kellie’s Academy for Kids. Parents are always welcome to volunteer for special events. We are committed to staying in contact with all of our parents. The staff at Kellie’s Academy for Kids welcomes parents to schedule conferences for children of all ages, especially those in the Kindergarten Prep program. We also send out newsletters to keep you up-to-date on upcoming events.

How Can I Improve My Child’s Preschool Experience?

Parents can do a lot to make sure their child has the best early education experience. One of the best things parents can do is to have their child attend preschool at least three days every week and arrive on time. This regular daycare routine will make them feel much more comfortable. After your child gets home, ask them about their day. You can read our lesson plans, so you’ll have an idea of what to talk about. Communicating with your child regularly is an excellent bonding tool.
